Burnie Athletic Club
The Burnie Athletic Club boasts a long and proud history spanning over 121 years of continuous entertainment. The traditional Burnie New Year’s Day Sports have always been one of Burnie’s major events, and continues to attract world-class athletes, cyclists and wood choppers.
All three disciplines have a full program of events culminating in the final of the Men’s and Women’s 120m Gift (athletics), and the Men’s and Ladies Wheel races. The main event on the wood chopping program is the 300mm Standing Chop.
With a new enthusiasm about how this Carnival will be approach, there are three vital ingredients that the Club needs for a successful day’s program – good weather, good crowds and sponsorship.
