Burnie Tennis Club
The Burnie Tennis club was established in 1890 and has been running ever since - making it one of the oldest tennis clubs in the world.
With well over a centuries worth of tradition and history behind it, the club has kept pace with the times and boasts a state of the art complex featuring 16 hard courts - five of these being under lights. The club house has also recently received a major renovation to bring it well and truly into the 21st century and beyond.
The club has been proud to host a world class Tennis Tournament is recent times. Starting off in 2002, the club has improved and expanded on subsequent tournaments year after year. Currently, the McDonald’s Burnie International is the biggest Tennis tournament in Australia outside of the Australian Open series and features men’s and women’s events. Regularly receiving kudos for being one of the best run tournaments of its kind in the world, it is something all of Burnie can be proud of.
