The McDonald’s Burnie International has been one of the greatest & important tennis tournaments on the Australian Tennis scene for a number of years
The event has been run immediately after the Australian “Open” to enable many of the up & coming players from around the world, as well as a number of well known Australian names to increase their ranking on the international tennis scene.
In recent years the McDonald’s Burnie International has gained a reputation of producing some of the greatest tennis matches with the young competitors fighting it out for the US$75,000 in prize money.
Tennis Australia believe that the McDonalds’ Burnie International will continue to grow into a mini “Australian Open” in the not to distant future. Drawing over 75 competitors and support staff as well as Tennis Australia officials to the Burnie area from around the globe, the McDonald’s Burnie International has secured continued support from Events Tasmania, The State Government and the Burnie City Council.
