Burnie Athletic Club
There are not many sporting clubs in Australia that can lay claim to 125 years of continuous service to their community. Well the Burnie Athletic Club is one of the few, with it celebrating its 125th carnival on New Year’s Day 2012.
Featuring the nationally acclaimed Burnie Gift, the BAC’s New Years Day Carnival has witnessed some Australia’s top athletes and cyclists. Who can ever forget the Burnie Wheel win of Danny Clark – not to mention the ‘never to be forgotten’ race call of our own local identity Harold ‘Tiger’ Dowling.
With a major shift in the expectations of the sporting public, the BAC was committed to delivery an exciting new carnival format in 2012 with the introduction of many new initiatives.
